The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May 2018. This Regulation requires the club to be explicit about what personal data we hold, what we do with it and how long we keep it, and to ensure that members have explicitly opted in to the Club’s mailing list.

GCRC Data Protection Statement

When you join Glasgow Coastal Rowing Club (The Club) you provide the Club with your personal data as follows:

  • name
  • phone number
  • email address
  • emergency contact name and number
  • membership and subscription category

This data is stored in our membership database and on a mailing list (hosted on Mailchimp) which is used solely for club administration and to communicate with you on Club news and information. The membership database and mailing list are accessible only to the Club officers (Convenor, Secretary and Treasurer). Your emergency contact information is shared with club skippers solely for use in emergencies.

You can unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time, but please be aware that means you would cease to receive any club news and details about rowing sessions.

We do not share your personal data with third parties. Nor do we divulge any of your personal data to other club members. It’s a matter for each member to decide with whom they wish to share their email and/or phone numbers

We keep your personal data only for as long as you are a member. You may request a copy of your personal data (email admin@rowglasgow.org.uk).

In addition you may provide us with personal data when

  • placing orders for club kit
  • booking rowing sessions on the Eventbrite booking system.

Order details (your name, email address and what you ordered) for club kit are held only for as long as is necessary to record receipt of moneys and fulfilment of orders. This data is accessible only by club officers.

Bookings on Eventbrite include your email address and your name. This data is held permanently to provide a record of club activity. Club skippers have access to this data. Club Skippers are permitted to access a list of club members.

None is this data is shared with third parties.
