Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting

Extraordinary General Meeting

Wednesday 19 April 2023, 18:30. Hyndland Bowling Club, Queensborough Gardens G12 9 QN

Public transport: Rail – Hyndland Station; Bus – FirstBus No 44, Clarence Drive.

Parking: Onstreet parking restrictions cease at 6pm.

No nominations or expressions of interest have been received for the vacant posts of Convenor and Treasurer, which means the club no longer has a properly constituted Management Committee.

As the Management Committee is responsible for club administration and ensuring club fulfils its legal and financial obligations this situation is untenable. An Extraordinary General Meeting has therefore been called at which, regretfully, a resolution to dissolve the club will be proposed.

It would be a great shame if the club has to be dissolved after seven successful years. This can be avoided only if, between now and 19 April, members come forward to take on the roles of Convenor and Treasurer.

If you’re interested or would like to discuss either role please don’t be shy, send an email to admin@rowglasgow.org.uk

Convenor – someone keenly interested in coastal rowing and able to provide the club with leadership and vision. Previous Convenor Fiona MacLeod will provide guidance and support. To be effective the Convenor needs to be supported by a committee of enthusiastic members.

Treasurer – responsible for recording income and expenditure and managing online banking. A very basic knowledge of  spreadsheets is useful, but please note it does not require accountancy skills. Acting Treasurer Ian Watson will provide a handover period.

Committee member – contribute thoughts, ideas and opinion on all aspects of club administration.

We will not be seeking membership fees, which would be due on 1 April, until the outcome of the EGM is known.
